Mango Ginger Root with Alkaline Filtered Water

 

Start with Reverse Osmosis Filtered water or Alkaline Filtered water which I prefer to use. I enjoy knowing I am drinking filtered water with minerals in it and that the contaminants that are in tap water have been removed. Tap water also has a bad taste to it that effects the flavor of your flavored drinking water

This flavored alkaline filtered water helps boost your metabolism because of the ginger root. Ginger root also relieves pain. The mango provides a mild sweet taste to the water which my grandchildren love. Other benefits of Mango are:

  • Mango is rich in pre-biotic dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals and poly-phenolic flavonoid antioxidant compounds.
  • Research shows that mango can protect against, beast, colon, leukemia and prostate cancers. The polyphenolic anti-oxidant compounds in mango are what offers protection against breast cancer and colon cancer.
  • Fresh mango is a good source of potassium. I bet you thought bananas were the only fruit that offered potassium. 100 g of mango fruit provides 156 mg of potassium with just 2 mg of sodium. Potassium provides cell and body fluids the important component needed to control heart rate and blood pressure.
  • Mango is an excellent source of vitamin-A and flavonoids like beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, and beta-cryptoxanthin. 100 g of fresh mango provides 765 mg or 25% of recommended daily levels of vitamin A. These compounds combined are known to have antioxidant properties and are essential for vision. Vitamin A is needed for maintaining healthy mucus membrane and skin. Carotene which is found in mango is known to protect the body of lung and oral cavity cancers.
  • Mango  is a good source of vitamin-B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin-C and vitamin-E. Vitamin C helps the body to develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenger harmful oxygen-free radicals. Vitamin B-6 or pyridoxine is required for GABA hormone production within the brain. It also controls homocystiene levels within the blood, which may be harmful to blood vessels resulting in CAD and stroke.
  • Another benefit of mango is it composes moderate amounts of copper. Copper is a co-factor for many vital enzymes, including cytochrome c-oxidase and super-oxide dismutase (other minerals funtion as co-factors for the enzyme are manganese and zinc). Copper is also required for the production of red blood cells.

Ingredients:

  • 1 inch ginger root, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup frozen or fresh mango

Directions:

Peel the ginger root with a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife. Only peel the piece of ginger root you’ll be using. After you’ve peeled the ginger root then slice it into 3 to 4 coin sized slices.

Add your ginger root and mango into your alkaline filtered water.

Top with 3 cups of ice to keep the mango and ginger root at the bottom of your pitcher. Then add your filtered water or filtered alkaline water.

Let it sit in the refrigerator for a minimum of 1 to 3 hours to infuse the filtered water or alkaline filtered water with the mango and ginger root. Refill the pitcher 2 to 4 times until the flavor is lost. Then enjoy your flavored filtered water.

Tip:
